Welcome
Tir Na N’Ogs greatest goals are to develop a Traditional Irish Cultural Program in Michigan, where all Irish & Scottish Musicians and Irish and Celtic Dancers will come together in friendship to dance, sing and enjoy the social enrichment of our cultural programs. We will entrap your attention with the history and the tunes and you will feel the movements even after you leave.
Dancers dance to entertain an audience, so we offer them opportunities to participate in various types of functions. We also need organizations to contact us, so we can fulfill this, and we are always looking for new outlets. The dancers will be able to float across the floor with their jigs or pound the floor with their hard shoe steps to the rhythm of a treble reel, while keeping their hands and back stiff and straight.
Our program also offers opportunities to put their Irish dance and a piece of Ireland’s history into a choreographed “masterpiece”. Chuchaillan’s battle, Celtic Mystique and One Day at a Time are just a few of our favorites. We also offer the opportunity to create duets, solo’s and group pieces with the students input or vision.
Our Goal is to develop a Celtic Cultural group, diversified in the music and arts of Ireland. We are non-competitive • Family Oriented • Focused on Enjoyment & Fun!
Instructors
Come join three generations of dancers learn about the Irish culture in dancing.
Debbie Freeman currently lives in Michigan but has lived in Ireland and has spent her life dancing in Ireland's kitchens and dance schools in Michigan. Her children, Meghan, Teresa, and Liam have been dancing since the age of 4. Her mother Sarah McCann from County Monaghan, Ireland joined her here and they are here to teach you the traditional Irish style of dancing.
We have had the opportunity to perform with the the bands Inis Ceol, Celtic Cross, SessioNite and Wakes and Weddings in the past. Some of our students have even had the chance to dance and practice with the groups Trinity and Lord of the Dance troupes.
